Tracy Chapman is my musical hero. She’s one of those artists where you can discuss not only talent, but enormous gift. Her voice is a gift.
It’s not about a good technique, or a ‘whistle’ note, or anything showing off. It’s much more than that. It’s her ability to keep your attention. She makes you stay focused, forget about everything around (burning breakfast – true story!) and listen what she’s got to tell. And she’s got so much to tell, promise.
On 16 April, Tracy Chapman performed at the Late Show with David Letterman. This time, she covered famous ‘Stand By Me’. No words needed.
Chapman is on top of my list of artists to be seen live. I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed for a long time now.
One of my favourite songs by Tracy Chapman is ‘Behind The Wall’. Probably the shortest in her career and sung acapella, but bringing out much power.
